AmEx cards profit hike

CREDIT card and travel services firm American Express saw third-quarter profit rise ten per cent, helped by increased spending among consumer and corporate clients.

It said profit over its latest quarter was £523 million, up from £474.3m a year ago. Revenues were up by 11 per cent to £3.4 billion.
